Anardil of Gondor by neral85 Anardil of Gondor by neral85
Anardil
enquëa aran Ondonórëo, ar tárirya

Anardil was the sixth king of Gondor in the early Third Age. The name Anardil means "Devoted to the Sun".

Anardil's reign over Gondor was uneventful. He is perhaps most notable as the last of Gondor's Kings to dwell exclusively in Osgiliath, since his son Ostoher built a summer residence in Minas Anor. Of Anardil's wife we know nothing, but certainly there was one, so why not draw her. ;-)

Because of his name, the Sun is in the background and it is also used for the decoration.

If you like my Tolkien-related art, look at my related journal or gallery folder.
But you can find even more of my pictures on my website Angrenost.cz. It's in Czech, but you can still look over the gallery of illustrations. Enjoy! :-)

Very nice! I love the pencil coloring the bordor and clothes designs, and how you've even written in Tengwar.

They look like works of art of the Byzantine era or generally pictures of saints. Their posture, their expressionless gaces.

Is that intentional or did I come about intuitively?

Thats cool.
I dont really like Byzantine art (it reminds me of churches :P) but you gave it a lot of colour and it looks real nice.
It gives a very different feel to the stories of the Silmarillion.
