Description

A township of Men lying under the Lonely Mountain, a centre of trade between the dwarves of Erebor and people of Esgaroth; it was destroyed when Smaug descended on the Dwarf-kingdom. After Smaug's destruction, Dale was refounded by Bard, the descendant of its lords.

pen and watercolour

I created this picture originally for a 2010 callendar I was making together with my sister Mechor as a christmas present for our grandma and granddad. This was the picture for January.

I love this!

This is so climatic. I see that snow is fresh, as not so much tropes on it. I like how you painted together Dalesmen and Dwarves. For me it's always impresive how both species coexisted in this place better than in any other place in Middle Earth. They lived much closer to each other than even Edain of the First Age and Elves.

I also think that eastern Northmen and northern Easterlings might be quite similar to us Slavs.

For architecture, how popular was this kind of timber framing in your country? In Poland that's associate mostly with Germans, even its name is "mur pruski" " a prussian wall", or szachulec, there is some distinction between those two kinds of timber framing. Overall, this picture is so nice!

I like how you realistically pictured their coats. This kind of winter fur coat with fur to the inside is called Kożuch in Polish, I pressume you might have a similar word. When English lacks a proper word for this coat!
